Goldene Waage (House of the Golden Scales)
With the Haus zur Goldenen Waage (House of the Golden Scales), reconstructed in Frankfurt's new old town, the city has regained one of its most beautiful half-timbered houses from the Renaissance period.
Beschreibung
The Haus zur Goldenen Waage (House of the Golden Scales) is a renaissance-style, timber-frame house built in the 17th century, destroyed in WW2 on 22 March 1944 and recently reconstructed true to the original.
The Goldene Waage is now home of a branch of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt. On the building’s roof, one finds the so-called "Belvederche" – a magnificent rooftop garden with spectacular views of the old town and the Frankfurt skyline.
A visit to the Haus zur Goldenen Waage is possible only in connection with guided tours.
