Technical University Darmstadt

Founded in 1836, the Höhere Gewerbeschule became the "Technische Hochschule Darmstadt" in 1877 and has been a technical university since 1997. The world's first chair for electrical engineering was established here in 1882. Today, the TU has around 25,000 students and is the first German university with autonomous self-administration. It is one of the 100 best universities in the world.
