A special, very adventurous place is located between the river Main and the city center: the early-modern Hessian state fortress which is home to the museum of industry and city history. The newly designed permanent exhibition in the south wing shows how Rüsselsheim went from being a small town to becoming a big city. The interactive exhibition invites visitors to try out things themselves. From inventions such as the Petticoat or the assembly belt to the modern work-life in a globalized world, all this can be found in the north wing of the fortress. Enjoy refreshments in an historical ambience at the café afterwards. Â
