The tower is one of Frankfurt's city landmarks and a symbol of the economic boom.
The architect Helmut Jahn (Chicago), often called Tower Father Jahn by the press, opted for an idiosyncratic and postmodern construction method. The round shaft with its grid facade of glass and red granite thins out towards the top like a sharpened pencil.
