Lido Nieder-Roden

Scenically set in a wind-protected depression between Darmstadt’s city districts of Dudenhofen and Nieder-Roden, this picturesque bathing lake – established over three decades ago – has become somewhat of a cult location.

The sandy beach and the adjoining sunbathing lawns are subdivided into two sections, one for nudists, the other for mainstream sunbathing. Both areas feature swimmer and non-swimmer zones replete with small islets and lifeguards on duty. An aqua-playground, a beach volleyball area and a large skatepark invite activity-minded visitors to work up a bit of a sweat.

Wheelchair-friendly access to the sunbathing lawns and the lakeside was established in the summer of 2015. A battery-operated lift helps physically handicapped bathers to enter the water on their very own.
