Grand dukes and landgraves used this small renaissance castle as their base for hunting expeditions. In 1907, Landgrave Ernst Ludwig set up the hunting museum here.
A large collection of weapons, equipment and hunting trophies as well as 13 differently laid-out saloons illustrate the life there and the nobility's passion for hunting.
