Description
The influential Expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was born on 6 May 1880 in this house, at what was then the Bavarian/Prussian border train station. As a small boy here he drew pictures of trains and locomotives, which he reproduced in wood engravings as an adult. The memories of this early childhood were so important to Kirchner that he referred to them in his entire artistic Work.
