Description
A walk through the romantic Schlosspark, through which one slips through a narrow alley of the old town of Kreuznach, is a cultural tour.
The Museum für PuppentheaterKultur (PuK) fascinates young and old. With a permanent exhibition and ever new special exhibitions, it stages the history of puppet theatre in its diverse forms, from hand puppets, stick puppets to shadow theatre and Asian puppet art. A theatre connected to the museum shows how alive the puppetry still is today. The PuK shows everything from the travelling theatre with Kasper - to the puppet stars of the TV age.
The Roman Hall presents the splendour of a grandiose palace villa of a super-rich Roman, which stood here in the Roman Rhine Province with 6,000 square metres of living space. Large mosaic floors show circus games and sea motifs, the exhibition tells of luxury, of life and death, of religion, handicraft techniques and the people of Roman times.
The dreamy Amalienschloss in the castle park lies on an old pond and was built in the 18th century by the energetic noblewoman Amalie von Anhalt-Dessau, who lived in Frankfurt am Main. Today the castle is a museum and brings together painting and sculpture, especially from the 19th century. A special role is played by the sculptures of the Cauer family, who created works of art over six generations in Bad Kreuznach - and throughout Europe.
All museums are handicapped accessible. Group tours are also possible outside opening hours. There is a café in the museum area. Costume tours can be booked at Touristinfo +49 (0) 671 8360050 Free parking is available.
