The Italian soprano is one of the most sought-after interpreters of our time, and not just since her sensational success as Elena in Verdi's I vespri siciliani at the Teatro Regio Turin. In addition to the great Verdi roles such as Violetta, Desdemona, Leonora (Il trovatore), Amelia and Odabella, she is also celebrated for her portrayal of Puccini's great female characters: Mimì, Liu, Cio-Cio-San, Suor Angelica and Tosca. As Norma, she has caused a worldwide sensation. Rarely performed operas are also part of her repertoire: she sang the title role in Donizetti's Gemma di Vergy in Bergamo (also on DVD) or Julia in Spontini's La Vestale at the Semperoper Dresden. She presented herself to the Frankfurt audience for the first time with a rarity: As Leonora in Verdi's very first opera Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio, the singer celebrated here in the 2015 season.
