The connection of musical worlds
Finally: The London Philharmonic Orchestra introduces its new Principal Guest Conductor - Karina Canellakis. For a few years now, the American musician, who was already successful as an academician of the Berlin Philharmonic in the first violins, has been conquering the stages of the world from the conductor's podium. For her debut at Pro Arte Frankfurt, she will present two repertoire classics, Beethoven's tragic "Coriolan" Overture and Tchaikovsky's brilliant Fifth. Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto with the exceptional Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov provides a virtuosic, playful counterpoint to these and connects the musical worlds: Composed in America, the Russian composer deliberately tried to meet the taste of the audience there, which in his opinion still hungered for Beethoven and was not ready for new music. Accordingly, he ensured that his compositions were as varied as possible and spiced up his work with percussive elements.
