Pianist Bob Degen, born in Scranton/Pennsylvania, studied at Berklee College of Music. After a brief stay in Germany, Degen attracted attention at the 1966 Gulda Competition. He then returned
returned to Boston to tour as a trio with Paul Motian and Mark Levinson. From 1969 to 1971, Bob Degen traveled the world with the Original Glenn Miller Band. He has lived in Frankfurt am Main since 1971 and has played a decisive role in shaping the Frankfurt Sound together with other jazz giants such as Albert Mangelsdorff and Heinz Sauer. Bob Degen was a member of the HR Jazz Ensemble, and in 2005 he toured Japan with Charlie Mariano, among others.
