It is a truly immense work, the most extensive in Johann Sebastian Bach's oeuvre, broad and deep, breaking boundaries. Bach demanded two choirs and two orchestras along with vocal soloists for the interpretation of his St. Matthew Passion, and the performance lasted almost three hours.
