Master musicians from Anatolia are at the center of this border exploration - eastward toward the Caucasus and westward toward Spain. Beyond all the political upheavals that continue to marginalize Anatolian cultures in Europe today, the musicians transcend all borders in their playing to musically celebrate what they have in common. With Renaud Garcia-Fons on double bass and Derya Türkan on kemençe, oriental maqam meets Andalusian cante jondo. Before that, the melancholy tones of the Armenian duduk by Vardan Hovanissian artfully interweave with the fine vibrations of the Anatolian long-necked lute saz by Emre Gültekin.
