Castle of Friedberg

The Castle Friedberg is considered one of the biggest castle complexes in Germany. The "Adolfstower" which is 58 m high, was built in 1347 and can be seen from far away. It is also the landmark of Friedberg. From two tower galleries visitors have a stunning view over the Taunus, the Vogelsberg and Frankfurt.

Unfortunately, nothing is left from the 12th century when it was founded, due to the conflict with the city of Friedberg from 1272 to 1275. The oldest preserved buildings are the fortifications built between the 14th and 16th century. It changed in the 17th century and became a stately home. Palace, a garden, a church, a guardhouse, a smithy and a school were added.
