Langener Waldsee

The Langener Waldsee is the largest leisure and recreational center in the whole of the Rhine-Main region. It is located in the city forest and owes its existence to commercial gravel and sand quarrying. On hot summer days more than 20.000 swimmers crowd together on the 900 meter long sand beach. The lake is also very popular because of its sailing, surfing, fishing and camping grounds.

Soft sandy beaches, surrounded by woodland and lots of water. The Langener Waldsee feels like vacation. On hot summer days up to 20.000 visitors enjoy the sun at the "Hessian Mediterranean sea". Sailing, surfing and fishing are common things to do at many leisure clubs located at the shoreline. The largest leisure and recreational center in in Rhine-Main region is located off of the B44, two kilometers southeast of the Frankfurt Airport. It was formed by decades of gravel mining and is operated by the Bäder- und Hallenmanagement GmbH, an associated company of the city of Langen. About 900 meters of sandy beaches, a huge pirate ship to play in the sand, beach-volleyball fields and four water platforms are lots of fun for kids. Large awnings provide some shade from the summer sun. Refreshments and snacks are available at a shop and the campground invites you to stay a little bit longer. For those who prefer sunbathing naturally, there is a popular nude beach at the north shore. The Langener Waldsee is most famous to host the annual IRONMAN European Championship.
