Luisenplatz

The Luisenplatz is the center of the city. Architect Georg Moller built the Ludwigs-Column (39 meters high) 1844 in honour of the first Grand Duke Ludwig I. Located on the north side of the square is the council building, former seat of ministers (1781), today district council.

The Luisenplatz is the center of the city Darmstadt. Not only the Ludwigs-Column is located there but also todays district council building which you can find on the north side of the square. Here you can also find the local gallery "Regionalgalerie Südhessen" with regular presentations of works from local artists.
